Your Photoshoot – Cotswolds Baby & Child Photography
I tailor each Cotswolds baby/children’s photoshoot to suit your requirements, but I can come up with my own ideas and bring along my own props for babies and children. Photographs can be taken in the comfort of your own home or garden, a local park or family walk of your choice or some of my recommended locations (if outside a radius of 20 miles from where I live, I will have to make a charge for travelling expenses). I like to have fun and my aim is to make sure you feel relaxed, as they will make the best photographs, and ensure memories are captured with emotion in an unobtrusive way.
Your questions answered…
Are you a full time photographer?
Yes, I am a full time self-employed photographer and mother.
Are you qualified?
I am a registered member of The Guild of Photographers and have undertaken several portrait photography courses, but my photography skills have grown from a life long hobby and passion. I have a BA (hons) degree in Graphic Design.
Are you insured?
Yes, I have professional indemnity and public & products liability insurance.
How would you describe your photography style?
I believe my style can be both reportage (aware but not posed) and candid (unaware), but when photographing older children, families or larger groups together, I also mix in some looking into the camera/gentle posed shots too. I will have lots of ideas of how to get the most from our time together.
When can the photoshoot take place?
I try to book photoshoots in on a Monday or a Thursday, when my son George is at nursery and I have some childcare for Rafferty. I am also happy to arrange a weekend, but they do get very busy, so if you have a weekend date in mind please book with as much notice as possible to avoid disappointment.
Where will my photoshoot be held?
I travel to you (I am happy to travel within 20 miles of Minchinhampton, further than this additional costs may apply). I usually start at your home and then we can also move into the garden, or a location of your choice, weather permitting. I am open to suggestions or can come up with great locations depending on the season. I do not work in a studio, but please contact me if you would prefer to come to me, as I have a child friendly garden, with its very own Forget me not cottage!
What happens if it is bad weather?
We reschedule for another day (unless the photoshoot is for a newborn or very young baby, when I tend to shoot indoors anyway).
How do we prepare for an indoor photoshoot?
Life with a very young baby is very unpredictable so photographing them is unsurprisingly difficult to plan for. I like to take photographs in your baby’s nursery or in a room with as much natural light as possible. Perhaps a chair in a window or access to a bed can create a calm setting for everyone. Don’t worry, I am easy going and don’t always have a tidy house either!
How long is a photoshoot?
Typically between 1 or 2 hours, but I am there as long as you want me! I recommend for us to meet around 10am or 2pm to avoid midday sun. However, I am happy to work around nap times. The best shots are usually when everyone is relaxed and unaware of my camera.
What to wear?
Whatever you are comfortable in. Plain, simple coloured clothes work well or complete fancy dress for little ones! You are welcome to have a change of outfits for them. In my opinion, it is best to avoid logos on clothing as they can distract the eye in photographs.
What do I bring to a photoshoot?
Any props you like; favourite toy, hats, fairy wings, wellies – they will be your photographs so please feel free to be imaginative. Sometimes the odd drink or snack can help when we take a break!
Do you edit the photographs?
Yes i do. I edit them in Aperture or Lightroom. I only make subtle changes to the overall image, but I do get rid of snotty noses and blemished or red skin! I’m afraid i don’t make people slimmer, you are lovely as you are! Also my main focus is your baby/child.
When do I see my photographs?
As soon as I can! I aim to have your online gallery of photographs ready around 2 weeks after your photoshoot. These will be edited images containing a watermark of my logo. Your online gallery will remain open for 2 weeks, which can be shared with family and friends.
How many photographs will be in the gallery?
Every photoshoot is different so it is difficult to say exactly how many there will be afterwards, but don’t worry I don’t hold back images without good reason. Usually there are approximately 40-80 photographs. Please remember quality over quantity!
How do I book?
Please complete my easy online booking form, choose a package and pay the fee before the photoshoot, which also works as a deposit. By booking with Forget me not photography you agree to abide by my terms and conditions.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes! They make a lovely gift for family or friends. Please contact me for details.
Do you photograph weddings?
Please visit The Wedding Cut for more information.
I hope to meet you and your family soon.
Love, Molly x
